Beach Mornings

2023 // 90cm x 120cm, acrylics & sand on canvas, framed in medium brown wood.

Created for Lilian

This large horizontal piece was created with moody tones that capture the grief Lilian went through in the recent years, while still highlighting the glimmer of hope that is always on the horizon.

“Contrary to the typical blue skies and vivid ocean blues, I chose a muted earthy palette to emphasise the current stage of my life.

The moody tones capture my grief and how it has completely engulfed me these past few years, changing me completely. Every intentional brush stroke reminds me of waves ebbing and flowing, just like grief, when some days are calm and others overwhelming.

But there’s a streak of gold, a slight glimmer of hope, a ray of sunlight that shows me grief is really just love, and grief cannot exist without love.

And oh, how lucky I am to have loved and be loved.

Thank you Carissa for expressing my emotions through art. I will treasure this piece always.”
